Martina was born in Hagen, West Germany. She lived in Germany for almost forty years, and then Italy, New Orleans (USA) and in France. Since 2000 Martina lives in Nottingham. She has worked as a qualified dental nurse, and then with families in crisis, and children’s homes in Germany and in Nottingham. In the past, she experienced emotional abuse as a child and domestic violence. In her work she explores the silence around domestic abuse, isolation and beauty. She knew that she had the love for photography, but only took it seriously after attending a course at the Photographer’s Hub. It came at a time when she needed it most. Her journey just started, looking out for the positive things in life. Searching for beautiful details, as well as reconnecting with her German culture.
